YoYoFactory's first model, and therefore, its longest running release. The F.A.S.T. 201.
FAST is actually an acronym for "Fully Active Starbust Technology," YYF's name for their easily adjustable response system. Just by twisting the sides, you can set the yo-yo's responsiveness. This was YoYoFactory's first yo-yo, and has to date sold well over a million units worldwide. Even now, it's a supremely popular model for beginners, and has been adopted by Bandai for their Hyper Yo-Yo line as the Mercury.
When the body is tightened, the narrower gap creates more response, whereas a broader gap gives it a longer sleep for less responsive play. You can easily adjust the 201 for your favorite setting, or to try a different style.
YoYoFactory has created a whole event out of the F.A.S.T. 201, the F.A.S.T. Challenge, where you can only use a 201. They have their championships at the World Yo-Yo Contest, and even give away some impressive trophies. Are you up for the challenge?
